News Death Notice
HUENKE, Michael Joseph 62 of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, December 30 2014 at Grant Hospital in Columbus. He was born on May 14, 1952 in Springfield the son of Robert and Catherine (Mulcahy) Huenke. He worked in the HVAC industry in Florida where he lived for a while and Ohio. Mike had a unique sense of humor and enjoyed being with his family. When his kids were involved with the Springfield SPY Swim Team he became the first "guru" of the timing/touch pad system for the swim meets. He is survived by his wife Polly Huenke of Urbana, three children: Erin Huenke of Springfield, Adam (Emilie) Huenke of Florida, and Amy Huenke of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Cordelia and Zander, siblings: Robert (Shirley) Huenke, Kay (Bob) Quinton, Theresa Joanne Huenke, and his twin sister, Marilyn (Rudy) Manderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 2-4:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with an informal time of sharing stories and memories beginning at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield SPY Swim Team, C/O The Springfield Y, 300 South Limestone St., Springfield, OH 45505.
