NEER, Nathan L. 96, of Mechanicsburg passed away Monday, April 11, 2016He was born July 17, 1919 in Catawba, Ohio. Nathan served his country in the United State Army during World War II. Working under combat conditions, he monitored and maintained airplane flare-path runway lighting. He also serviced and maintained the aircraft. He retired from Grimes Manufacturing after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship Church. Nathan enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He is survived by his brother, James E. Neer of Austin, Texas; step-daughter, Fredda (Mark) Westfall; nephew, William (Karen) Smith and niece, Vicki (William) Brown, as well as 2 great nieces, 3 nephews, 5 great-great nieces and 2 great-great nephews.Nathan is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary (Lightle) Neer, his wife, Lucinda (Craig) Neer and his sister, Mary Christine Smith. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 PM,Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in SKILLMAN, McDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the funeral home with Rev. Linden Good officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
