News Death Notice
DETRICK, Neal E. 76, of Columbus, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Neal was born in Springfield, OH on May 17, 1935, to John F. and Donna A. (Burnworth) Detrick and is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Janie (Sutton) Detrick; daughter, Pamela (Tyler) Wilson; sons, Tim (Michelle), Steven (Michelle), Christopher (Jane) Detrick; grandchildren, Kayela, Blair, Elliot, Megan, Rachel, Cassady, Stephany, Lara, Maggie; sister-in-law, Ruth Detrick; niece, nephew and many friends. Neal retired from OSU after 30 years. He is a member Grace Lutheran Church of Westerville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 4-8PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Thursday, July 14, 2011, 11:00 A.M. My Condolences to the Detrick Family, I knew Neil from working at OSU and he was one of the nicest people I had the honor of knowing. Praying that the Lord wraps you all in confort at this time.

Neal gave me my first real job at OSU. I had no experience and he hired me. I worked 32 years and retired. Neal was a huge party of my life. He was a great man and yes his smile was the best. He was always a happy person. I will miss him too. If my Mother were here she would be very sad too. They were the best of friends. Neal would help anyone who needed it, oh and what a big heart he had. He will be missed by so many who loved him. I take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain, and in a much better place. God will help all of us through this sad time in our life.

this has been a really hard loss.We all loved him so much and even if you didn't know him he could still make you smile.He always made me smile and he made the rest of the family smile too.He was one of the most friendly people I knew and that's a fact.he left behind so many memories.Life will never be the same without him.It's hard to manage it now but the future should be brighter for everyone.
