Ron was one of our favorite nephews. He came to Terre Haute many times usually with Sandy. He loved to help on the farm and run the tractor. Richard and John welcomed his help. He had handsome smile and fun loving laughter He was Meemaw's first grandchild. We always enjoyed visiting with him, and we are proud of his accomplishments. We wish we could have had him on this planet longer, but the Lord wanted him. Love from Aunt Marilyn and Uncle John

My memories of Ron are many, both as a trooper and a business man. He was one of those individuals that I truly respected and was so happy to call a friend. He was very instrumental in my becoming a state police officer through his example and encouragement. His sense of humor and professionalism in all that he did set the bar high for others. I am truly saddened to hear of his passing, and Sandy, I know that you will miss him along with the rest of the family deeply. Ron was just one of those people that was always glad to see you and he always had something good to say each time. He had a great career and he touched a lot of individuals with a very positive attitude. I was also happy to be able to do little things for him over the years, which at the time did not seem very important, but now that I look back at them, it was to him. Ron you will be missed, and surly not forgotten. Rest in peace brother.

I have so many fond memories of working with Sgt. Ron Schinkle, Unit 240, while he was at Springfield Post 12. Ron was my Sergeant for many years. I truly loved his sense of humor. My husband Chuck and I had dinner with him and Sandy in Enon one evening many years ago when our children were all babies. We were delivering their new picnic table that was hand made by Chuck. Chuck always said that picnic table would last forever. I pray that Ron and Sandy had many enjoyable dinners at that table. I never worried about my safety or the safety of others while Ron was on duty. Ron taught me many "life's lessons". He was a part of my "highway patrol family", and he will never be forgotten. God rest is soul. Condolences to the entire family. Sandy, I wish you the best and pray for peace.
