Steven MEEKS Obituary
News Death Notice
MEEKS, Steven W. 39, of Columbus, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born February 28, 1973 in Springfield, the son of Jerry Meeks and Gayla (Teets) Drown. Steven was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing softball but his true passion was supporting and attending his son Kaleb's athletic events. He was employed by O W D Logistics in Columbus. Survivors include his best friend and love of his life, his son; Kaleb Meeks, his mother and step father; Gayla and Larry Drown, Urbana, his father and step mother; Jerry and Barbara Meeks, Springfield, two step children; Brooke and Matthew Murphy, Columbus, brothers and sisters; Jerry (Jamie) Meeks Jr., Jason (Anita) Meeks, Springfield, Bethany Drown, Mason Drown, Wyatt Drown, Urbana, Angela (Christopher) Tilley, Boston, Ma., Stacy (Andrew) Lippencott, Urbana and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his fiance; Amy Murphy, Kaleb's mother, in 2005. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Monday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Burial will follow in Myers Cemetery.

Jerry, Jason, Rick, & familes. I can't not believe this tragedy has occurred. Steve was such a wonderful person. Steve, you were my neighbor. We use to say hi & bye in passing, maybe share a little joke or a smile along the way.. I am very saddened by your passing. I look over at your house everyday just wishing I could see you cutting your grass or taking your son to his sporting events. My heart goes out to your son. I can't even imagine his pain. Although I know you are in a better place, I just feel like its so unfair to your loved ones. please know that you will be missed. Your light will shine through your son. RIP Steve.
