News Death Notice

DAVY, Walter W. 73, of Springfield, departed this life on June 20, 2014 at the Masonic Home. Walt was born September 9, 1940, in Springfield, Ohio to Herbert and Mary (Evans) Davy. Walt grew up in Harmony and graduated from Northeastern High School in 1958. Walt proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he served as a Sea Bee. He attended the Northside Church of God where he accepted the Lord as his Savior in June, 2005. Survivors include Walt's best friend, Daisy Adams, daughter Dawn (Chris) Redden of Ft. Wayne, son, Michael (Judy) Davy of Springfield, Walt's sister, Harriett Birt and nephew Rick (Cindy) Birt. Two granddaughters Laren Davy and Tara Brown of Springfield, four great granddaughters, Paige, Lia Harris, Lani Castle and Lakin Oiler, great nephew Ricky Birt. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, brother Alfred and nephew Jeff Birt. Walt was an avid Reds and Buckeye fan. He was an animal advocate and loved his cat, Sassy. Walt donated his body to the Wright State School of Medicine for research in hopes of helping medical students. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Animal Welfare League. A memorial service will be held pending arrangements.
