Barbara Avalos Obituary

BARBARA HUBBARD AVALOS died peacefully after a long illness at the Smith House Health Center under hospice care. Barbara was born in New Haven, December 12, 1926. She was the beloved daughter of the late George and Leila Allen Hubbard; devoted wife of the late William Avalos, Sr.; dedicated mother of Joseph L. Avalos, William and Jane Avalos and Diane Hiscock-Ethier, all of Stamford; beloved grandmother of Michael Avalos, Scott Avalos, Michele Ethier, all of Stamford and Stephen Hiscock of Beacon Falls; and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Mia Avalos of Stamford; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ofiero of Milford; and nephew and nieces. She was predeceased by a grandson, Shawn Hiscock. She was a dedicated Parishioner of St. Bridget of Ireland Church in Stamford and was devoted to her family, spending time with them and playing bingo with her friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday July 11th in the Leo P. Gallaghers & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on July 12th at St. Bridget of Ireland Church at 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to Masonicare Hospice,or the Stamford Firefighters Burn Foundation, 629 Main Street, Stamford, CT 06901.
