Jacqueline Neuberger

JACQUELINE NEUBERGER - a resident of Stamford for over 20 years died peacefully at her home Sunday, May 27. She was 91.

Born September 25, 1915 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Santi and Concetta Caminita. She spent the early years of her life in Missouri until moving to New York to study opera. She was a singer with both the San Carlo and the Metropolitan Opera Companies performing in multiple productions until leaving the stage to raise her family.

After her children were grown, she started a second career with the Prudential Insurance Company. She was named leading female insurance agent in the Eastern United States several times.

Until she became ill, she was an active member of the Holy Spirit Parish with her voice being an integral part of their choir. She was also an active volunteer for both Stamford Hospital and the previous St. Joseph's Medical Center.

She is survived by her son Santi J. Neuberger, M.D. of New Canaan, a sister, Antoinette Petri of St. Louis, Missouri, five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jillian and Jake Neuberger of New Canaan, Douglas Schaeffler of St. Louis, Missouri and Scott Schaeffler of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She is also survived by three great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ladislav Neuberger, her son, William Schaeffler and her sister Concetta Castelli.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 30 from 5-8 p.m. at Gallagher's Funeral Home, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 31 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit R.C. Church with burial in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery in Flushing, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent in memory of Mrs. Jacqueline Neuberger to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
