John Nimons Obituary

Nimons, John D.
John D. Nimons, 51, of Redding, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2015, with his wife, Hilary (Senese) Nimons and family, by his side after a long, valiant battle with melanoma.
John was born on March 5, 1964, in Albany, New York, to John M. (Jack) and Marianne (Duffy) Nimons. He was raised in Stamford, Connecticut, and graduated from Westhill High School in 1982. John earned a bachelor's degree in English from Amherst College in 1986, where he starred as an All-American pitcher for the school's baseball team. John also spent a summer pitching in the AAA Cape Cod League for the Hyannis Mets.
John began his professional career in the information technology department at United States Surgical Corporation. Then, in 1999, he joined Stamford-based Synapse, a division of Time, Inc., where he held the position of Vice President, Chief Information Officer for the past seven years.
Away from work, John loved to play. He found immense happiness in St. Barths or on any golf course. He loved the outdoors and greatly enjoyed sharing adventures with his children, Jake and Jesse, and hiking with their dog, Louie. A true "Parrot Head," John and Hilary had amazing times singing along together at the many Jimmy Buffett concerts they attended.
John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Hilary, their son, Jake, 16, and daughter, Jesse, 13. He is also survived by his parents, Jack and Marianne, of Brunswick, New York, as well as his brother, Tim, of Mechanicville, New York. He was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews. A devoted family man, friend, leader and role-model, John will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, located at 25 Cross Highway in Redding, Connecticut.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

Dear Nimons family - At this time of loss, words cannot express the sympathy that goes out to you all of you.

I met John in high school and even at that young age he showed signs of commitment, courage, competence, character, passion, and wisdom (not to mention amazing baseball skills!).

We reconnected at school reunions and he always talked about his family.

My condolences.
