Nicholas DeYulio Obituary

Nicholas J. DeYulio
Nicholas Joseph DeYulio, 72, passed away at his home in Stamford surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. He was born in Stamford on November 7, 1945 to the late Victor Joseph and Linda Cantarano DeYulio.
At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, where he spent four years, including a tour in Vietnam. When he returned home from the US Marine Corps he went to work with his father in the family business, DeYulio Sausage Company. Nicky dedicated his whole life to growing DeYulio's; his dreams and creativity are what made DeYulio's what it is today. He was very dedicated to the cleanliness of the company, which was demonstrated by his daily cleaning of Myrtle Avenue and Elm Street. He took great pride in the spotlessness of DeYulio's and the surrounding area. While Nicky had no children, he considered his employees at DeYulio's his family.
He loved being active and spent his free time at the YMCA or out on the water surrounded by his family and friends.
Nicky is survived by his brother, Victor Paul DeYulio, his sister, Patricia Oxer and her husband Robert as well as his nieces and nephews, Lisa Taylor and her husband Michael, Jennifer Oxer, Christopher Oxer, Lauren Moore and her husband David and RJ Oxer.
Besides his parents, Nicholas is predeceased by his sister in law, Noreen Cooney DeYulio.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 12:00 -4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.

I just heard of Nick’s passing and I must say he was one of the most interesting people I ever had the privilege to know. I started a sausage making company in 2010 and Nick called me one day to talk sausage. I spent a lot of time with Nick over the next several years and I learned so much about the business ins and outs of the food world on a larger scale. I watched the Deyulio team move from Stamford to Bridgeport which was Nick’s shining glory and he was involved in every detail. What a great family and I will always be in Nick’s debt. Rest easy my friend, thank you for all your advice.

It's been 2 years and it still feels like yesterday. I think of you everyday and will always hold you close to my heart. I know you are watching from heaven, "By your Side", "Dragon Flies" everywhere I look. Just last week holding one in between my finger tips. We all know you are with us every single day through our thoughts of past memories that are etched in our hearts and minds forever!!!
