Ronald Louis Meyer of Stamford, Connecticut passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the age of 87.
Ron was born at Stamford Hospital on March 24, 1938, to the late Louis William Meyer and Lillian Frances Rosenberger Meyer. Ronald grew up in Stamford and attended school at Stark Elementary, Burdick Junior High School and graduated from Stamford High School in June of 1956. He continued his education at Wright Tech in Stamford from 1956 to 1958 for Carpentry.
Ron served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany for 18 months.
Before serving in the US Army, Ron worked at Farrell Woodworking from 1956 to 1958 and again from 1960 to early 1961. From 1961 to 1966 he worked at Diamond National Lumber as a truck driver and salesman. From 1966 to 1989 he worked at Weed & Duryea as a salesman. He worked at Architectural Aluminum from 1989 to 1995 as a salesman. Before retiring in 2005, Ron worked at Interstate Lumber from 1995 to 2005 as a salesman.
Ron met the love of his life Roberta Marie Miller while working in the Sunday School office at Zion Lutheran Church. They were married on November 4, 1961, at Zion Lutheran Church and shared 59 years of loving happiness together before Roberta passed on August 26, 2021.
Ron is survived by his five children – Robert Meyer of Stamford Connecticut, Jeffrey Meyer and his wife Joyce Meyer of Trumbull Connecticut, Susan Genovese and her husband Matthew Genovese of Stamford Connecticut, David Meyer and his wife Gail Meyer of Shelton Connecticut, and William Meyer and his wife Holly McCormick of Stamford Connecticut. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren - Ryan Meyer and his partner Josh Unger, Hudson Meyer, Kara Meyer, Jordan Meyer, Christina Genovese, Steven Genovese, and Matthew Genovese and his wife Rachel Genovese, along with their son Matthew William Genovese, Poppy's great-grandson.
Along with his parents and wife Roberta, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Francis (Buddy), Louis Meyer and Harold Sylvester Meyer who passed away as a baby.
Ron was a very active member and sang in the church choir at Zion Lutheran Church from 1954 to 2020. He joined St. John's Lutheran Church in 2020 and sang in the Summer Choir. Ron was a huge sports fan. He enjoyed watching the NY Rangers, NY Mets, NY Giants and UCONN Basketball on TV and attended many UCONN women's basketball games with family and friends. Ron also loved to snow ski with his children and friends and skied into his 70s. For over 20 years Ron worked on the Eddie Marshall race car team and went to many races at Lebanon Valley Speedway.
Ron was a loving husband and father, son, uncle, a great brother, a wonderful friend and a truly amazing Poppy to his family.
Friends and family may pay respects to Ronald on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. Ronald will be laid to rest at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. John's Lutheran Church www.stjohnelca.org.
