She was a treasured friend to many who saw her as their cheerleader and confidante, fiercely loyal and caring, a "rock" and a role model who always enjoyed a good pun.
And Nancy Ferguson Meyer was "Kind with a capital K."
With loving family support and cherished friends by her side, Nancy's strong spirit carried her through an almost three-year fight with cancer.
She died March 19, 2026.
Born December 15, 1948 here at St. John's Hospital, Nancy lived in Tulsa the first 10 years of her life and later another 60 years in midtown.
Her family moved to Louisiana and Nancy graduated high school in Shreveport, returning to Tulsa to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation from the University of Tulsa.
At TU, Nancy was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Her six-decade long affiliation with her sorority was spent mentoring generations of pledge classes and serving as the long-time Tri Delta Alumni treasurer. For her untiring work, Nancy was honored as the TU Alumni Volunteer of the Year in 2012 and Panhellenic Woman of the Year in 2014.
Following her college years, Nancy spent 31 years as Administrative Sales Assistant for Merrill Lynch, finishing her career at TU as Assistant Alumni Director.
Dusty Meyer was Nancy's last blind date. Three weeks after they met in 1970, they were engaged and six months later, they wed. During their 55-year marriage, the couple enjoyed travel adventures from motorcycle jaunts and ski trips to land and sea cruises around Canada and the US, including Alaska and countless national parks.
Travels farther abroad to England, Scotland and Ireland were also sources of wonder, fun and great stories later.
Nancy's volunteer roles increased dramatically in retirement with Nancy and their magical Merlin serving as Paws for Reading volunteers at libraries in Brookside and Broken Arrow. Other gifts of time were spent with Reading Partners at Kendall-Whittier Elementary School, the Assistance League and as a state-certified Master Gardener at the Linneaus Teaching Garden. December also saw guest appearances as "Mrs. Nancy Claus" in classrooms and at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum.
