Charles Frank Bowman, 77, of Drums, passed away suddenly on Wednesday at his residence.
Born and raised in Bloomsburg, he was the son of the late Frank Bowman and Jean (Dieterich) Bowman.
Surviving are his daughter, Dina Hyduke and her husband, Keith, Drums; son, Michael Bowman and his wife, Jennifer, McAdoo; and beloved granddaughter, Althea Hyduke, Drums.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Tapper) Bowman.
Charles attended Bloomsburg University, which is where he met the love of his life, Janice (Tapper) Bowman. They were married in 1967 for a wonderful 54 years prior to Janice's passing in 2021.
A 1969 graduate of Bloomsburg University, Charles worked as a special education teacher for the Hazleton Area School District for over 30 years. He cared so much for the students who passed through his classroom having kept in touch with several as they grew older.
Charles was an actively involved in Freemasonry and was a past master as well as a former secretary of the Hazle Azalea Fellowship Lodge 327. He had earned his 50 year pin in 2023. He was also a Noble of the Irem Temple Shriners.
Charles enjoyed his hobbies, such as hunting, trap shooting, karate and traveling with his family. Charles also loved spending time with immediate family as well as extended family at the Bloomsburg Fair in his home town. It was always the highlight of the year. In his later years, once he and Janice moved to Beech Mountain in Drums, he loved watching the deer out of his window and from his porch. Post-retirement, he enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends at various establishments in Hazleton.
A deeply loving and supportive husband, father, son and friend to all, Charles will be greatly missed. He was a true family man, volunteering any way he could for his children's activities. Known for his sense of humor, quick wit and infectious laugh, he will be remembered warmly.

Charlie was a dear cousin who often told me that I was like a sister to him. That meant a lot to me. My husband and I will miss him very much. Our prayers for the entire family!
