Doris M. Hill, 89, of West Hazleton died early Saturday morning at her niece's home in Drums, where she had been residing since February.
Born in West Hazleton on Oct. 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Wilson F. and Eva (Jones) Hill.
Doris was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton, where she sang in the choir, served on the counting committee and previously served on the church council.
She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, reading, going to the movies and to the Hazleton Community Concerts. She also enjoyed spending time with her friend of more than 60 years, Joyce Donati. Doris loved her family and her many nieces and nephews, as well as their many pets.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her sister, Gladys Sachs; and her cat, Boo.
Surviving are her brother, Donald Hill and his wife, Mary Ellen, Massachusetts; nieces and nephews, Carole Fairchild and her husband, Edward; Robert Sachs and his wife, Chrissy; Jayne Fisher and her husband, David; David Hill and his wife, Kelly; Elizabeth Lehrer and her husband, Norman; Mary Jane Long and her husband, Jim; Randy Sachs; Shelley Murray and her husband, Mike; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton, where Pastor Wayne Lupole will preside.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, West Hazleton.
Friends and family are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home, 530 W. Butler Drive, Drums.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, those in attendance are required to wear a mask and maintain social distance.
Doris' family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Maylath's Home Health/Hospice, especially Sandy and Kim for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 210 W. Green St., Hazleton, PA 18201, or to the Hazleton Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 481, Hazleton, PA 18201.
