Dorothy Nitka, 94, of Pardeesville entered into eternal rest Friday at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Buck Mountain, daughter of the late John and Helen (Osachuck) Panco. She was a member of the former St. Nazarius Roman Catholic Church and a member of Good Shepherd Church.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Men's Fabrics and last in the housekeeping department at the Standard-Speaker.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William Nitka, in 1991; and brothers and sisters, John, Michael, Thomas, Joseph, Steven, Peter, Mary Anderson Radacowsky, Anna Merkle, Helen Rizzi, Margaret Matrishion and Olga Viola. She was the last surviving member of her parents and siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Clatch and her husband, Joseph, Pardeesville; and her son, John Nitka and his wife, Patricia, New Market, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Rita Ganc, Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Theresa Woitko and her husband, John; Sharon Clatch and her husband, Jon Berger; and Joann Clatch and wife, Robin Brezna; great-grandchildren, Johnny and Jordy Woitko and Xavier and Xander Brezna, who will forever share a special bond with their Gigi!
Dorothy loved spending time with her family, along with country music and polkas, and she was very proud of her yodeling ability.
Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Drums.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
Friends and relatives may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Good Shepherd Church would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., Hazleton.
