John F. "Gunner" Denion, 84, of Freeland passed away Friday in his home surrounded by his family.
Born Sept. 26, 1937, in Laurytown, he was the son of the late Rita (McGill) and John Denion.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Freeland, a lifetime member of the Sons of Erin, a social member of the Freeland Veterans of Foreign Wars, and an avid Notre Dame and New York Yankees fan.
He retired from Feussner's Ford after 60 years of service. He was also a part-time bartender for Jake's Café and Lobitz Catering.
He was preceded in his death, in addition to his parents, by his brother, Joseph.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Roseanne E. DeLucca; children, Mary Beth Mehalick and husband, Carl, Freeland; Jack Denion, Freeland; Bryan Denion and wife, Tracey, Pottsville; Robert Denion and fiancée, Lori Macko, Freeland; Sharon Roberts and husband, Dale, Freeland; Kristen Longo and husband, Matt, Macungie; grandchildren, Megan and Lily Mehalick; Connor and Rylee Denion; Aiden and Isla Denion; Jason Roberts; and Noah Longo; brother and sister, Edward Denion and wife, Maureen, Charleston, S.C.; and Susan Lyle and husband, Larry, Baltimore, Md; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 28 at McNulty Funeral Home, 494 E. Butler Drive, Freeland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Aug. 29 in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish, 898 Centre St., Freeland. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. to service time.
A burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery, Freeland.
In lieu of flowers, friends may send a memorial donation in John's name to the Capital Campaign Fund at Immaculate Conception Church, Freeland.
McNulty Funeral Home, 494 E. Butler Drive, Freeland, is in charge of arrangements.
