Louise Anne Lyate, a lifelong resident of Hazleton, passed away Friday at her residence.
Born to the late Margaret Stabach, Louise recently observed her 81st birthday and celebrated alongside her husband of 62 years, Anthony Lyate.
Louise was employed by her alma mater, the Hazleton Area School District, for 39 years, most recently at Heights-Terrace Elementary/Middle School until her retirement in 2012.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of Most Precious Blood Church. Her spiritual connection to Mother Mary was the cornerstone of her life, especially in her role as a mother.
Louise had unwavering love and support for her family. Her adoration for her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew no bounds and Louise delighted in every moment they shared. She looked forward to receiving photos of them on her iPad, and was known to share them with her husband and friends while drinking coffee at Dunkin' Donuts. Louise laughed loud, loved unconditionally and lived life to the fullest.
In addition to her husband Anthony, Louise is survived by her son, Mark, husband of Lisa (Bradish). She also leaves behind a grandson Dominic Lyate and granddaughter Maria, wife of Landon Wolf and their children, Greyson and Layla Wolf.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her mother, were her aunts, Anna and Minnie Lonzetta; and Uncle, Dominic (Bucky) Lonzetta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton. Interment will follow in Most Precious Blood Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fierro Funeral Home, Hazleton.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509.
