Patricia Walp, 61, of Sugarloaf Twp. passed away early Monday morning in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton following a brief illness.
Born in Hazleton on Jan. 22, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Harlen and Grace (Altieri) Walp and spent the past 23 years in Sugarloaf Twp. after moving from Conyngham and Hazleton.
Patricia was a 1980 graduate of Hazleton High School. She was a cafeteria supervisor for Hazleton Area School District, having worked at West Hazleton, Hazleton Area Academy of Sciences and Valley Elementary. Patricia was very active in Air Force Moms groups and was a member of the Golden Jubilee, which raises money for the Morris Animal Foundation's Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. She loved nature and animals, bird watching and swimming in her pool, her serenity.
Surviving are her two daughters, Tina Busch and her companion, Silvio Lopez, Zion Grove; and Shannon Busch and her wife, Emily, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo.; a brother, Albert Walp, Queens, N.Y.; three sisters, Virginia Walp, Clarks Summit; Deborah Burger and her husband, Pat, Clarks Summit; and Barbara Gombeda and her husband, Dave, Hazleton; a niece, Lauren Gombeda, Hazleton; four fur-grandchildren, Harvey, Kronk, Bourbon and Duck; and her longtime best friends, Debbie Calucci, Bernie Gogola and Carmella Pretti.
Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
