Thomas S. Wizda of Texas, formerly of Freeland, passed away Wednesday on his 92nd birthday, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton.
Born in Swamptown, he was the son of the late George and Mary Kopchinski Wizda.
From 1953 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict, Thomas served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a draftsman for Devro Corporation, New Jersey.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann's Church, Freeland, and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Texas. He enjoyed bingo and also was an avid gardener.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former, Elaine Troy; brother, John Troy; and a sister, Theresa Salko.
Surviving are a son, Thomas S. Wizda Jr., Texas; daughter, Christine Wizda, Texas; brothers, George and wife, Rosemary, Tampa, Fla.; Ed and wife, Janet, Lakeland, Fla.; Joseph and wife, Darlene, Freeland; Ronald and wife, Carol, Levittown; sisters Geraldine Lozechnik and husband, Steve, Somerville, N.J.; Thelma Bartus, Manville, N.J.; Joan Sarosky, Highland; Janet Rebarchak and husband, Edward, Newark, Del.; and Elaine Trackim, Shenandoah; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann's Church, 898 Centre St., Freeland. Burial will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Freeland. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to service time at the church. McHugh-Wilczek Funeral Home, 249 Centre St., Freeland, is in charge of arrangements.
