Harris, Jo Ann

Age 66, of Elmira Heights, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility after a long battle with brain tumors. She was born on October 1, 1946 to the late Walter "Huckle" and Evelyn (Allen) Myers. She is survived by her husband, Harvey Harris of Elmira Heights; son, Shawn Harris of NYC; daughter, Lynnette (Nick) Moffe of Pine City; step-daughters, Peri (Tim) Schwartz of FL and Tracy (Kevin) Perry of MO; grandchildren, Sammi and Nikki Moffe and Ashley and Brandon Perry; brother, Walter "Bub" (Joy) Myers of Horseheads; sister, MaryLou (Jim) Loomis of Elmira; nieces, Michelle (Bob) Knoll, Marie (Brian) Evans, Melanie (Karl) Stonebarger; nephew, Jimmer (Karrie) Loomis; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Jo Ann retired from Hardinge, Inc. after 41 years of service and her friends from Hardinge were more like family to her. Her family always came first and she looked forward to family birthday parties and her daily calls from her son, Shawn. Her number one passion was crocheting and very rarely would you catch her without a crochet hook and a new pattern to try out. She loved to make those famous baby loop sweaters and one-of-a-kind fancy blankets. When she was unable to crochet anymore, she would spend her days sitting in her recliner watching the birds land on her bird feeders and try to identify them all. Although she is no longer here on earth with us, we know her family above is taking good care of her and she is looking down on us free of pain and at peace. Hopefully she will finally get to meet her lifetime idol, ELVIS PRESLEY. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 6th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow there at 6 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
