Kathleen Palmer Obituary

Kathleen Doris Palmer

Horseheads - Kay Palmer died peacefully in Florida on February 7th after a wonderful life of 102+ years! She joins her husband, T. Sloane and son Kipp (Tracey S.) in Heaven along with many other dear relatives and friends. She is survived by Kathie (daughter) and Winn Croft of Minnesota; Cherie (daughter) Rowe of Florida and Judy (daughter-in-law) Palmer of Pennsylvania, along with 15 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren, nephews, nieces and many cousins who all loved her dearly. She was born as Kathleen Doris Turner on New Years Eve in Niagara Falls, NY to British immigrants William and Grace Turner. She married T. Sloane Palmer in 1944 and moved to Horseheads, NY in 1962. She worked part time in accounting at Chemung Canal Bank and volunteered at the Horseheads Historical Society and Bethany Center and she is a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved to read, drink English tea, play bridge, sit in the sunshine, eat lots (and lots) of sweets and she was an avid bird watcher. When asked, she would always say that the secret to a long life is, "to be positive" and she was! Always cheerful, kind, with an encouraging word and she loved everyone unconditionally. She showed us how to grow old Graciously. We all hope to carry on this Legacy! Her service will be at the Crocker Memorial Church, Sarasota, FL, February 17th at 10:30 am. Later in the Spring there will be a burial service in Horseheads, NY,. In lieu of flowers, donations, in her memory, can be made to help protect the wildlife she loved, either to the National Audubon Society (tribute gift tab) or the Sarasota Audubon Society call 941-724-1709 or the Horseheads Historical Society 607-739-3938. Our wonderful Mom, Grammie, Great Gramma Palmer, Aunt Kay and friend to all, will be truly missed!

SO fortunate to have such a positive Mother In Law. She was always up for anything saying , "If you are going anywhere please let me know." Without her I'd not have had my husband for many years, Kipp Palmer. Thank You.

What a wonderful gal Kay was. Always on the go & with a smile on her face. Lovely lady who loved life. We have missed her around Horseheads for
the last few years when she moved to Florida . But
kept in touch by mail or phone. SHE probably is
right now organizing a bridge game--her great
love. Kay & Jack Coombs
