Richard Mayhew Obituary
Mayhew, Richard G.age 55 of Elmira passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 31, 2016. Rich is survived by his loving family, mother, Dorothy Mayhew of New City, NY;girlfriend, Dawn Ayres Knapp of Elmira, NY; brothers, William (Sheila Fusare) of Horseheads, NY, Robert (Eileen) Mayhew of Cary, NC, James (Bridget) Mayhew of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Susan Mayhew of Chester, NY and Ann (Frank) Granton of Monroe, NY; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his father, William Mayhew who passed away in 2013, Rich was also predeceased by his nephew, William "Billy" Mayhew in 2010. Rich was born in Spring Valley, NY, to William and Dorothy Mayhew. He was a veteran of the US Navy and locally for many years, Rich was a carpet and flooring installer. He was also a member of Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297. He enjoyed sports, including golf, was a die hard NY Ranger, NY Giants, and Mets Fan and he also loved hunting.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Friday, November 4, 2016, from 6-9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 9:30AM. Interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads. Those wishing may remember Rich with memorials to the Cancer Fund @Corning Cancer Center 2 Guthrie Drive, Corning, NY, 14830.
