Suzanne McKee Obituary

McKee, Suzanne M. (Raniewicz)

Age 72, Of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2017 at her daughters home where she was lovingly cared for during the last three months by her children. She was born November 12, 1944 in Elmira, NY.

She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Mary Raniewicz and brother Peter Paul Raniewicz. She is survived by children: Larry Jr, Bruce, Christine Cooper (Dave), and Carolyn Prokopenko (Leon); grandchildren Paul and Peter Prokopenko; all of Rochester, NY; Larry McKee a huge source of comfort and strength; sisters: Connie Rempe, Betty Clauss, Chris Lynch (Jim), Mary Ann Girardi (TJ); many nieces nephews and cousins.

Sue graduated from Notre Dame high school in 1962. She was a dedicated and very hard worker starting as a teenager at Carr's Cozy Corner through her years at Wegmans, Kodak, and as a restaurant manager in Florida. She was also a pianist/organist starting again in her teenage years and throughout her life at Catholic churches in Elmira and Rochester and most recently at a Lutheran Church in Rochester.

She seemed to gain the most pleasure in life from her music, the Sunday dinners she always cooked for her family and up until her illness, her Saturday's devoted to having her grandchildren come and spend the day . They were equally devoted to her. Her last 10 years were spent as a dedicated caregiver to the elderly, always going above and beyond until three months ago when she could physically do no more and was diagnosed with brain cancer. She was a giver all of her life and she will be immensely missed by many. We would appreciate if those who knew her would enter a fond memory in the guest book. Services will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 3 PM at Transfiguration Lutheran Church 3760 Culver Rd. Rochester, NY 14622.

Sue has always held such a special place in the hearts of my entire family. How my Mom would giggle about her wedding party picture with Suzanne "pouting" when Sue learned she was the flower girl and not my Dad's bride! At home on Johnson Street, Sue was my first piano teacher. How she loved music and loved sharing it with me! With her move to Rochester, came countless family trips to visit - good times as her family grew and grew. I remember when Sue introduced me to Constant Comment tea; I felt so grown up! Sue had a way of making us all feel special. I will miss her dearly.
To Sue's children and Sue's sisters, may you all find peace in your happy memories.

I'm so sorry to hear of Sue's passing. I worked with her at Kodak from the mid 80's until she retired. She was always so helpful to me and would take the time to chat no matter how busy she was. It was great working with her and I missed her after she left Kodak. She so loved all of you, her children, Larry Jr, Bruce, Christine & Carolyn and she talked about all of you a lot! I'm sorry that we lost touch through the years, I always hoped we'd catch up over a good cup of coffee again! You have my deepest sympathy.

I was blessed to be able to chat with my cousin Sue and her family. She was my Parent's Flower Girl, shared the same birthday, and I am the Godfather to her son. She was my friend and I remember Cozy Corner, Polanski St. where she made "shoe leather steak", Carter St. where she made her Bacon & Scramble, Seville Dr. where she made chicken dumplings. She always looked out for me. All those Sundays on Johnson St. at Uncle Pete's after Grams. Frozen in my memory, her serving me a coke at Cozy Corner and Little Larry's Baptism. I thank her for her wisdom, the Birthday calls, all of my east coast visits. The sound of her voice these past couple of weeks. I'll always miss and love her. God Bless. Frankie

Connie, Betty, Chris, and MaryAnn, I am so sorry about Sue. I will always remember when I was probably seven or eight, I saw these hair bows in the window of the beauty shop next to the Cozy Corner. I would stop and look at them every day. I so wanted them. Well low and behold, Sue came over to 959 one day with a bag; and she bought those hair bows for me. I'll never forget how excited i was to get them.
Rest in peace, Sue, and may God bless you!!!

May God bless the family in this time of sorrow. I have many fond memories of Sue from when the family lived on Carter Street in the 70's. She was a wonderful person and funny. She often gave my brother and I a ride to school when dropping off her own children and was always nice when we were over there playing. Prayers and hugs to Larry, Bruce, Christine and Carolyn.
