Gary Estep Obituary

Gary Lee Estep of Ridgely, MD, passed away at home on February 18, 2024. He was 79 years old.

Born October 28, 1944, in Fairmont, WV, he was the son of Joseph and Edna Estep. Gary grew up in Fairfax, VA, graduating from Fairfax High School. After high school, Gary enlisted in the army, serving in Vietnam. He then went on to work at Coca Cola Bottling in Washington, DC, C & P Telephone as a cable splicer, and Harris Crab House for 30 years. Gary's most cherished job was being a professional oyster shucker for different events and private parties.

Gary married his wife, Beverly Ann Estep on June 10, 1994. The two of them met at Anglers Restaurant and enjoyed spending time there together as a couple. Beverly always supported Gary's passion for the outdoors and his profession, assisting him in oyster shucking events.

He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially on the water, fishing and oystering. Most importantly he will be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, and love for everyone.

Gary is survived by his wife, Beverly Estep of Ridgely, MD; daughter, Angela Estep of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and stepson, Charles Squires; grandchildren, Allyce Nicole of Palm Beach, FL, and Christina of Fredericksburg, VA, and pets Sophie and Toby. Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brothers William Johnson of Woodbridge, VA, and Richard Johnson of Fairfax, VA.

A memorial visitation will take place on Wednesday March 20, 2024, from 2pm - 4pm at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home in Chester, MD.
