Jacob Sloan Obituary

STEVENSVILLE - Jacob Peter Gildersleeve Sloan of Stevensville, MD, passed away on October 20, 2018. He was 12.
Born on Feb. 20, 2006, he was the son of Peter and Mary Sloan of Stevensville, MD, where he was a seventh grader at Matapeake Middle School. Jake had a love for music and could always be heard singing or humming a tune. He played the trumpet in the school band and sang loud and proud in the school chorus. He was an active member of Living Water Lutheran Church and would often help the church praise group with his mad tambourine skills.
Jake loved sports especially baseball, football, golf, swimming, and also wrestling for the family championship belt; he was the reigning family champion.
Every day he left the house hoping to make a difference. And he did. He was a friend to all, and made sure that no one was ever left out. Jake was the first to welcome new students to school, to ensure that nobody ate lunch alone and his infectious smile was contagious. His unique sense of humor and spirit for life made everybody around him happy.
In addition to his parents, Mary and Peter Sloan, Jake is survived by his brothers: Daniel Sloan (Jordan), of Stevensville, MD; Christopher Sloan, of Stevensville, MD; maternal grandfather, Thomas H. Fague; aunts: Kathy Anderson (Doug); Susan Dugan; Pam McMahon; uncle, John Sloan; cousins: Nicholas Anderson, Kelli Dugan, Karen Dugan, Cary Leo Pall and Maryann Hilton. He is also survived by countless family and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Susan Fague; paternal grandparents: Ann Gildersleeve Sloan and Chaplain (LTC) Robert A. Sloan; and his uncle, Robert A. Sloan Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 26, 4:30 p.m. at Christ Church in Stevensville, MD, where a fellowship will immediately follow in Shand Hall.
Because of Jake's passion for music, the family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to 106 Shamrock Road, Chester, MD 21619 in care of Matapeake Middle School Music Department
Jake will live in our hearts forever.
