Ruth Marshall Luebbecke, 91, passed away peacefully at her daughters home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, after a long and wonderful life.
Born on July 10, 1933, in her family home on Grace Street in St. Michaels, Maryland. Ruthie, as she liked to be called, was the daughter of the late Marion C. Marshall, Sr. and Lydia Thomas Marshall of St. Michaels, Maryland. She was in the first St. Michaels High School class to graduate with 12 years of school, previously there were only 11 grades.
Ruthie was married to her beloved husband, Charles Marion Luebbecke for 59 years until the time of his passing in 2010.
Her first and only job was at Shockley's store in downtown St. Michaels in the 50's. Her duties were to sell spirits and work at the lunch counter. This is where she became a wonderful cook and developed a joy for cooking and an obsession to feed everyone.
Ruthie loved everyone especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Her abundant love did not end there. In addition to her parents and siblings she loved her extended family which included her brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, friends, doctors, nurses and all the medical personnel that cared for her. She never met a stranger.
She is survived by her son, Hans Luebbecke of Preston, daughter, Milly Luebbecke Wroten (Billy) of St. Michaels, her grandchildren, Tiffany Luebbecke, Nathan Wroten (Serine), Haley Wroten Powers (Keith). Her greatest delight nearing the end of her life was visiting with her beloved great-granddaughter, Zoey Powers.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, her parents, her brother Marion "Junior" Marshall, Jr., her sister Emma Eglseder, and her daughter-in-law Brenda Luebbecke
With a heart full of love and a spirit that radiated joy, Ruthie touched the lives of everyone she met. Her smile was more than just an expression-it was a reflection of her boundless warmth and kindness. Her eyes sparkled with recognition and affection, always remembering those she encountered.
Her generosity knew no limits, and she poured love into everything she did-especially into feeding those she cared for. Whether you were family, friend, or simply someone who crossed her path, you likely left her home with a full belly and an even fuller heart.
A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Bozman, Maryland. A private interment will take place at a later date.
