Paul Melvin Settle

Paul Melvin Settle of Culpeper, Va., passed away at Inova Medical Center, Fairfax, Va., on March 5, 2023.

For 43 years and until two weeks prior to his death, Paul was employed at UVA Culpeper Medical Center. Through his service as a member of the Housekeeping staff, Paul came in daily contact offering warm greetings with patients and other staff, many of whom were friends of long standing.

Paul never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone. In addition to his employment, Paul and his family lived on his family farm where he loved the animals and working on the farm. Among his greatest joys was daily spending time with friends and staff at Frost Café and Green's BP Station.

Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia Hillery Settle; his daughter, Hillery Williams of Charlottesville; his aunt and uncle, Margaret Ann (McFarland) and Ray Gore; his uncle, James McFarland, and several cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Silas William and Clara McFarland Settle and his older brother, Silas William Settle, Jr.

Visitation will be held at Clore-English Funeral Home on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2 until 4 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, remembrance gifts may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 6328 Hoover Rd., Reva, VA 22735, where Paul's family attended, and where Paul was baptized and married.
