Robert Rook Obituary
On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, Robert "Bob" Donald Rook, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 83.
Bob was born on October 29, 1937, in Carthage, TX to Robert and Jeanette Rook. He received degrees in math and psychology from Baylor University and was an ordained minister. Bob served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain.
Friends and family will remember his tireless energy and fighting spirit that was guided by his love of God, deep intellect, and jovial nature. A man of many talents and interests, Bob touched many important projects in his career, including the Air Force Minuteman II, the Apollo missions, and the FBI's automated fingerprint system. He was an entrepreneur who worked with startups and ran several consulting companies, and, in retirement, worked as a realtor. Throughout his life, Bob had many hobbies, including photography, electronics, researching the Bible, coaching little league, and working with horses on his farm.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Robert Daulton Rook, mother, Lora Jeanette Pharis, and godson Earl Miller. He is survived by his loving wife, Nonna, his children and grandchildren David (wife Brid and children Sadbh and Ciaran), Bruce (wife Leslie and children Megan, Christopher, and Josh), Bobby (wife Jody and children Lindsey and Erin), niece Virginia Brown (husband Jay and children Selena and Zaria), and adopted son Ricky Gill (wife Kim and children Arik and Kailey).
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 11am at Mountain Run Lake Park, J.B. Carpenter Jr. Drive, Culpeper, Virginia 22701. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Mountain View Community Church Building Fund.
