Barbara Dike Obituary
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 9, at Mission Springs Community Church in Fremont, Calif.
Barbie is the daughter of Beverley Reuland of Scottsbluff and Marvin Dike of Kingman, Ariz., and stepfather, Dwight Porter of Oshkosh. She is also survived by her daughters, Brittany 18 and Brianna 14, and baby granddaughter Jabriela all of Fremont, Calif., as well as her sisters JoDee Dike-Johnson and family, and Jeanne Dike and family from Fremont, Calif.; sister, Cassie Calderon and brother, Nicholas Porter and families all of Scottsbluff, and step brother, Mark Porter of Douglas, Wyo. Her grandmother is Bertha Martindale of Scottsbluff and Aunt Karon Wagoner of Albuquerque, N.M.
Barbie was born at Fort Ord Military Hospital on Oct. 2, 1966. She grew up in Fort Collins, Colo. and graduated from the Colorado School for the Deaf in Colorado Springs, as Valedictorian in 1984. She participated in three beauty pageants in her young adult life and took the title of Miss Deaf Colorado at the age of 19 and went on to become 4th runner up to Miss Deaf America shortly thereafter.
She received her Bachelor's Degree from Cal State Hayward and most recently completed her Master's Degree from Liberty University. On the day she was to receive her Master's Degree, she met her "Master" in heaven.
Barbie worked with deaf and hearing children and families from the California School for the Deaf, loved art and photography and won many awards for her special talents.
She was first stricken with Melanoma Cancer four years ago in her arm, and after having it surgically removed believed she would go on and beat it. Then it reappeared throughout her body and after being told she had six months to live, only lived another week.
Barbie was greatly loved by everyone her life touched both hearing and deaf, and was well known for her loving and generous heart. She will be greatly missed.
Preceding her in death were her grandmother Maycel Dike, grandfather Irvin Dewey and baby brother Tery Dike.

Our Deapest condolences to the Dike family. Barbie will be greatly missed. It was amazing how much she loved her children and even treated my daughter as one of her own. I can not put into words the loss that all of us will feel with out her. Her love for life and family showed thru her talent of photography. I hope in time it will bring some comfort to you to know that she will always be protecting and watching over you.

She was a very special person. I was her interpreter for a few years at Cal State East Bay. It was such a pleasure working with her. My deepest condolences to her family.

Barbie and I were buddies in the pageant that took a place in Salt Lake City 26 years ago. She was one of the most stunning persons I met there . Bless her daughters, family and friends. Amen.

Barbie was a great friend of mine, she and I always carried fantastic conversations, gave each others tips, feedbacks, etc. she is sorely missed by many, including myself. Parents are blessed to have Barbie on earth and rasied her up very well. Thank to her activities at CSDB very supportive there. God has reasons for her up in heaven. She is not lonely up there. She joins with my husband, James E Litchfield Jr up in heaven.

Since I have never met her, I am sure she is greatly missed by everyone at the School for the deaf in Fremont. Her family has my concolonuse .
