Bryan Heinz Obituary

Bryan J. Heinz

August 30, 1933 - March 9, 2025

Bryan J. Heinz was born to George and Marjorie (Canfield) Heinz on August 30, 1933, in Henry, Nebraska. He passed away on March 9, 2025, at the Goshen Care Community Center in Torrington, Wyoming. He was the third child born in the family; sisters, Lois and Marge preceded Bryan in birth and one sister, Janice, was born after him.

Bryan attended grade school at the Chalk Buttes country school north of Henry in Sioux County, Nebraska, and then attended high school in Torrington, graduating in 1951. This is where he met the love of his life, Donna Cay Brown. They were married on December 23, 1953; they were together for 68 years until Donna Cay passed away in 2022. Two children became part of the family, Jonna in 1961 and Todd in 1964.

After high school, Bryan attended the University of Wyoming for one year, then was drafted into the United States Army, and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Bryan's father, George, was tragically lost in an accident on Easter Sunday, 1954, so Bryan was given an honorable discharge from military service, returned home to manage the family ranch and cattle operations; this then became his life's work.

Both Bryan and Donna Cay were well known and respected for their community service and graciously helping others whenever possible and wherever needed. They participated in many livestock organizations, served on the UW Alumni Board of Directors, and were very active in the First Congregational Church in Torrington as well.

Bryan was an excellent team roper and he certainly enjoyed that activity for many years. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, encouraging them in their numerous activities. His family was very important to him and they always knew they could rely on him for his wisdom, counsel, and guidance.

His wife, Donna Cay; parents, George and Marjorie; and sister, Lois preceded him in death.

His daughter, Jonna; and son, Todd survive him, as do his sisters, Marge and Janice; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chuck and Kate Brown of Wheatland, Wyoming, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at the Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, Wyoming on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matthew Gordon officiating. Lunch will follow immediately after the service in the EWC cafeteria.

Memorials may be directed to the EWC Rodeo Team, 3200 West C Street, Torrington, Wyoming 82240 or the First Congregational Church, 2102 East E Steet, Torrington, Wyoming 82240.

Gorman Funeral Homes - Platte Chapel of Wheatland, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.

I was blessed to know both Bryan and Donna getting to know them as a boy. I would tag along with my dad doing windmill and plumbing work. Years later we continued the bond through the art world. They always made me feel like a special person and will be dear in my heart.

We knew Bryan & Donna Cay during their later years in Torrington. Bryan was a people person and never knew a stranger no matter what path they chose in life. He was very generous to his family , friends and community.
We send our deepest condolences to the family of a man whom we held in high regard.
