Michael Steven "Steve" Cleays February 27, 1954-August 28, 2023 Michael Steven "Steve" Cleays, 69, of Scottsbluff, NE, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, in Scottsbluff. His memorial service will be held 11 a.m., on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rick Parker officiating. Steve was the oldest of 3 sons born to Ernest "Ernie" and Elsie Cleays. He was raised in the Mitchell area as well as attending Mitchell schools. He met his first wife at an early age, and had his only 2 daughters, Jennifer and Jill. Steve worked for various farmers throughout his life and for the County driving a road grader until he suffered a near fatal car accident that left him deemed unable to work. Steve was an avid outdoorsman, he had a love of fishing and hunting, especially Elk. He often traveled to Oregon and Washington to visit friends and family as well as hunt and fish. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and making things from wood. Most people that know him would say that he liked to talk A LOT! He was always "shooting the bull" with people and telling tall tales. Survivors include his 2 daughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Chrisman, Jill (Travis) Brown; 4 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 1 great-granddaughter; and 1 great-grandson; mother, Elsie; brothers, Rod and James; 1 niece; and several cousins.
