HELMUTH SCHNEIDER Obituary
SCHNEIDER JR.
Helmuth H. Schneider, Jr. passed away in Fredericksburg on September 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Helmuth was born in Poth, Texas, on April 5, 1938, to Helmuth H. Schneider Sr. and Frances Michut Schneider. He went to Central Catholic High School in San Antonio and graduated from St. Marys University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology.
Helmuth married Betty Kulhanek in Ennis, TX on December 30, 1966, at St. Johns Catholic Church. They resided in New Braunfels until moving to Mesquite, TX in 1978 where they were parishioners of St. Pius X Catholic Church for many decades.
Whether he was in Yosemite or Grand Canyon national parks or in the Texas Hill Country, Helmuth was always in awe of nature's splendor. Helmuth was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, rarely missing a televised game or seen without his Rangers baseball cap. Watching his team win the World Series was on his bucket list, and his Rangers succeeded in 2023. After retiring from the oil and gas industry, Helmuth found a passion for genealogy. Helmuth conducted extensive genealogical research of family ancestors in the Czech Republic. He was very generous with his extensive knowledge, often speaking at genealogy conferences and helping others research their family history.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Schneider. Helmuth and Betty had a passion for traveling, in the US and in Europe, that they shared with their children. Helmuth is survived by his 4 children: DeDe Threadgill, Pam Schneider, Janet Degenhardt and husband Hal, and Ronnie Schneider and wife Meghan. Helmuth is survived by his grandchildren: Bailey Wolberg and husband Jake, Riggs Threadgill, Della Threadgill, Drake Threadgill, Hal Degenhardt II, Will Degenhardt, Claire Schneider; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Wolberg.
On Friday, October 4th, a Rosary will be recited at 9:30, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. Following Mass, the family will meet with friends in the Holy Family Center.
The family would like to thank the staff of Arbor House, Methodist Hospice and Peterson Hospital for their care.
