Jonathan (Jon) Michael McCarty passed away in Allen, Texas on September 27, 2021 at the age of 74.

Jon was born in East Chicago, Indiana on November 25, 1946, to Edward Franklin McCarty II and Phyllis Janet (Hardy) McCarty.

Jon graduated from Washington Community High School, Washington, Illinois in 1965. Following graduation, he served with the US Army in the Vietnam War where he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB).

After discharge from the Army at Fort Riley, Kansas, Jon married Nancy Ann Zabokrtsky February 1, 1969. They celebrated 52 years of marriage in February 2021.

Jon graduated from Kansas State University in 1973 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. Following graduation from KSU, Jon earned a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.

Jon began his career in public administration with the City of Wichita Falls, Texas. In the Spring of 1979, Jon became the first city manager of Allen, Texas where he continued to serve the community for over nineteen years.

Jon is survived by his wife, Nancy of Allen, Texas; two sons, Colin Michael McCarty and his wife, Amy Michelle of Richardson, Texas; Jonathan Patrick McCarty of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandson, Harrison Michael McCarty of Richardson, Texas; brother, Edward F. McCarty, III of Weatherford, Texas; sister, Elaine A. Schneider of Centerville, Ohio; brother, Bruce L. McCarty and his wife, Gail of Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Kathyleen J. McCarty of Weatherford, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Phyllis McCarty.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas. Memorial contributions in Jon's honor may be made to the Allen Public Library 300 N. Allen Drive, Allen, Texas.
