Wilmington - On Wednesday, March 17th, the golf fairway experienced a hazard as Mr. Golf, Alan "Jeff" Baird unexpectedly passed away. Jeff, 61, was a master welder, mechanic, loving husband, father, friend, and amazing golfer.
With his extensive automotive knowledge, and being a master welder, Jeff and his family opened Cape Fear Muffler, specializing in custom exhaust.
A golfer loves the green, and Jeff had a deep love of the greens. He was an exceptional player, often courted by others to be on their team. His distinctive walk, dry sense of humor, and expert skills made him loved by many.
Jeff is survived by the love of his life, Wendy, his daughters Scout, Cara, granddaughter Bella, and "adopted" daughter Danielli. His loving mother, Beth, siblings Brad (deceased), Andy, Greg, Marty, Jenny, Mitch, multiple nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a tribe of golf buddies. Funeral services, following Covid protocols, will be Saturday, March 27th at 4pm at Cape Fear Optimist, 3222 North Kerr Ave, Wilm, NC 28405.

I worked next door to cape fear muffler when they opened and became friends with Jeff. He was a great man and very honest and just cool. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I can't believe he's gone. God gained another angel thats for sure. He just was so kind and helpful. You'll be missed buddy. R.I.P

I am deeply saddened by Jeff's passing. My prayers for strength, comfort and healing to all of his beloved family. Many fond memories of Jeff and the family live permanently in my soul. As he leaves us in this life, he takes a piece of my heart with him, but his legacy lives on. Rest in peace Jeff.
