CHARLES FILIPOWICZ Obituary
Charles W. Filipowicz, 76, of Wilmington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 18, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 4, 1937, in Lynn, MA to the late Joseph and Adelia Filipowicz. He is also preceded in death by a brother in law, Ronald Guthrie.
Charlie is survived his loving wife, of 57 years, Lynn Guthrie Filipowicz; three children, Deborah F. Quinn (Mark) of Potters Hill, NC, Diane F. Krawczyk (John) of Virginia Beach, VA and Donna Filipowicz of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Filipowicz of Wilmington, MA, Victor Phillips of Beverly, MA and Joseph Guthrie of Castle Hayne, NC; numerous nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends who considered him family.
Charlie served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After being discharged from the military he worked in the auto parts business. He retired from Ideal Cement and Holsum Bakery. Charlie will always be remembered for his happy smile, beautiful blue eyes and good natured humor. He never met a stranger.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, officiated by Rev. Brad Harrison. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Wrightsboro Baptist Church Family Life Center, The Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
