So it has been years.... a good friend of mine passed away and folks posted on a site that reminded me of this page about Eleanor. Thank you all for the thoughtful and heartfelt words during a tough time.

We talk to Grayson about Eleanor (aka Grammy Sugar) all the time so she is alive in our hearts, minds and words. The amount of things we have missed experiencing together is truly heartbreaking but we try to honor her memory the best we can.

Jackie, Greg and Noel please accept my sincerest sympathies. Your Mom loved you all so much and was so proud of you. She told me all about you all, Kim and Grayson when I visited her last June. It was a wonderful visit full of laughs and good memories. She was the old "Bunny" I knew and loved. I will miss her and will keep your mom and all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Jackie, Greg and Noel, I was so saddened to hear of your mom's passing, and then I got to thinking about our childhood on Seneca Street. Your mom was, by far, the coolest, hippest, most attractive lady on the block. I will always remember her amused smile when we'd come in with some new scheme. She had great style and a wonderful way of bringing laughter, serenity, and smiles into the world. I feel blessed to have been one of the kids on your block. You guys will be in my thoughts and prayers. Warm regards, Liz Sanford Stepp

Dear Noelle, Greg and Jackie, I'm so shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of your mother. She was honest, down-to-earth, realistic and trustworthy. She wasn't afraid to fight to improve life for all of you. You were her primary concern, no doubt about it. She would have done anything for you. She didn't waste any time on self-pity. She had higher goals. It's people like Eleanor who inspire others to be optomistic about life. May she rest in peace, and may you all bear your considerable grief knowing that your mother was a truly fine woman. I will treasure her memory.

Words seem shallow to express our sadness and loss of our dear friend Eleanor. Eleanor graced our lives with her warm and loving personality, always there to help, to care, to be a friend. We were friends for 65 years and don't think we ever had a cross word between us. We thank God for the gift of her love, friendship, wonderful sense of humor and infectious laugh. Till we meet again dear friend, enjoy your heavenly reward with all your loved ones and save a place for us.

It is with great sadness and much respect that we bid farewell to Mrs. Schementi, a woman who lived in this world with class, warmth and humor. She was an excellent example for a group of high school girls who spent many afternoons around her dining room table. Her legacy carries on in each of us.

Our deepest sympathies are with you, Jackie, Greg and Noel, as we remember your mother and all the great times we shared as kids. Family clam bakes, hide and seek, crawling rock and sitting at your kitchen table while the sound of your mother's laughter filled the house and our hearts.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Megan, Eileen, Liz and Shelagh Abate

I don't know, at this moment, if i can find the words to describe the fondness we feel for the Shementi Family...Growing up in Nassau Shores together, Mrs. Shementi was always the voice of care and concern...as we grew, so did our relationship with Eleanor. Her laugh, Her Wise Words, Her Outlook on Life...So Positive and Full of Warmth...
I will cherish the memories from ALL of the years I was fortunate enough to be invited into the Schementi Family....The loss is felt by many, Our deepest condolences

Love, Jenn & Evan
