Hollan Pickard Obituary

HOLLAN THOMAS PICKARD Hollan Thomas Pickard, 87, of Graham, passed away on December 25th, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mary Lee Pickard, who survives, and the son of Robert C. Pickard and Vesta Thomas Pickard, both deceased. He was a retired plant manager with AT&T and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. Mr. Pickard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Bishop, Scout Master, Seminary Leader, and was Counselor in the Stake Presidency. He was a member of the Thomas M. Holt Masonic Lodge and the American Legion, Post 305. Mr. Pickard had many hobbies including wood working, music, and especially baseball. In addition to his wife, Mary Lee Pickard, survivors include his daughter, Sonya Pickard Stead and husband Jeffrey of Cary, NC; three grandchildren, Zachary Thomas Stead, Rebecca Lee Stead, and Julie Ann Stead; sisters-in-law, Linda and Carol Pickard; brother-in-law, James Yates and wife Barbara; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his seven siblings, Carson Pickard, Dorothy Lemons, J.W. Pickard, Lester Pickard, Shirley Yates, Dick Pickard, and Jack Pickard. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 151 Old Rock Spring Cemetery Rd, Pittsboro, NC. Officiating will be Brother Roy Zwahlen. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 6:00 -8:00 PM at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham and at other times will be at the residence. The family will also receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday at the church in the Relief Society Room prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice. Condolences may be offered at www.richandthompson.com

Mr. Picks Mongoose about ate up my friends & I when we were kids. I'll never forget and never forget him!!
I can see him right now in Heaven playing a joke on someone there laughing and carrying on as only he could do.

Mr. Pickard was so nice and kind. He always shared a smile. He was my dialysis buddy. I miss you already. You loved talking about your family and the many journeys you taken in life. I know you have one more journey to take. God bless the family. Praying for you all. He was so loved ❤
