JAMES EDWARD 'EDDIE'

BRANSON

Eddie Branson, 75, of Wilmington, died Monday, July 23, at New Hanover

Regional Medical Center after a battle with lung cancer.

Born on February 17, 1932, in Berwind, West Virginia, he was the son of the late John Fine and Edna Elizabeth Crissman Branson. Eddie was one of 14 children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jean Botts Branson; brothers, Robert Henry, John Richard, William Raymond, and Fred Craig; and sisters, Madge Aston, Edna Gaynell (Nell), Edith Wanda, Ramona Annette and Patty Jo.

Eddie was a veteran of the United States Army, and retired from Dupont in 1985. He loved his home state of West Virginia, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Norris Branson of the home; daughter, Melanie Jane Branson Curtis of Charleston, SC; son, John (Johnny) William Branson and wife Donna of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Kelli Jean Branson Best and husband David of Wilmington, NC; step-children, Donnie Norris and wife Amanda of Wilmington, NC; Mitchell Norris of Wilmington, NC; he was 'Papa' to granddaughter, Branson Jean Best and step-grandchildren, Crystal Renee Ramsey, Joseph Aaron (Aaron) Belcher, Matthew David Best, John Michael Best, Madison Jill Norris, and Connor Odell Norris, all of Wilmington, NC; brother, Thomas Eugene, and sisters, Dorothy Virginia, Mary Sue, and Nancy Ruth; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the home on 406 Windemere Road, Wilmington, NC. The committal of his ashes will be at a graveside service at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 11 a.m. Thursday officiated by Rev. John Stokes. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 725 Wellington Ave., Wilmington, NC 28401.
