Condolences to the Forrester family at this time.

I served in the Air Guard with Dr. Forrester in the 70s, he was a caring and fine man.

God watch over his family at this difficult time.

Dr. Forrester had been my family physician while growing up as we lived in the same small town of Stanley, NC. We attended the same Baptist church and I knew him to be a kind, Christian man. He did not hesitate to give me an outstanding letter of recommendation when I applied to the Wake Forest University Physician Assistant program. He also served as a preceptor to me during my first rotation out of school. I am proud to have known him and cannot say enough kind things about his character. He was one of the most accomplished people I have ever known. He probably never knew how much I looked up to him and how he served as a role model for me. This man truly devoted his life to the service of others in many capacities. I know he will rest in peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Senator was kind to all. I was not a great friend of Senator Forrester, but watched him in the General Assembly conduct himself in a manner that commanded both love and respect.

He will be missed by the State as well as his friends and family.

Jim served God. In turn he served his family, community, and Country. Jim was a leader, he took the reigns of leadership to guide us on topics even when it wasn't popular. He understood doing what was right didnt have to be popular. Jim leaves us all a great legacy and Godly example. He will be missed.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you his family.

Mary Frances and Family, I have not had the pleasure of meeting Jim but feel that I too was lucky to get to know him through Mary Paige over the past few years as we corresponded with the Prayer Warriors. I wish I'd gotten to know him in person. I feel connected to your family somehow and am sending you heartfelt wishes for comfort in knowing how much he was loved and respected. God bless you all.

My Dad always sang the song "You Are My Sunshine" to us girls when putting us to bed or when driving us in the car. He was a fine whistler too. Few people know how well my Daddy could sing.

When we were saying our good - byes as a family, in a circle, hand - in - hand, we shared happy family moments. We all sensed that Dad could still hear us.

All Daddy wanted for his children was for them to be Christians, to be happy and to find their passion in life. Mine happened to be education, foreign language, and art. My last words to Daddy sounded very similar to the songs in Fred Kirby's song.

" I am your sunshine. I am not happy when skies are gray. You know how much I love you. I wish you could stay with us longer."

But that was not God's divine will and our family has bravely accepted that. I wispered into Dad's ear: " I love you, Dad. You are the best father a child could ever ask for. I will miss you more than words can say."

This tender side of my father was perhaps one that many had known, including his patients, friends and colleagues. He was a man of few but well intended and soft spoken words. He always knew how to carefully guide others to make wise choices and good decisions.

The day after Daddy died, it rained. The skies were gray and the wind blew the colorful fall leaves all over our yard. Yet, hours later, the sun came out shining bright in the sky. I finally understood. The sun was smiling down at me. Daddy did not want us to be sad, but happy. He wanted us to remember blue skies not gray ones. He wanted us to be sunbeams for Christ and shine for Him every day.

None of us is perfect and yet both Doc Jim and Christ knew that we are all imperfectly beautiful sunbeams that reflect life
lessons of love, charity, honesty, integrity and hard work.

Our Daddy will be missed by many who found in him not only a friend but a surrogate father, brother, and son.

God bless you Daddy. Rest in peace and we will remember you best on when we see blue skies shing down on us all. We will make each other happy even when skies are gray. We will remind each other daily how much we love one another. And we will meet again some day!

Mary Frances and Family, the words gentleman and servant always come to mind when we think of Dr. and Senator Jim Forrester. Jim practiced what he believed in and that inspired us to dedicate ourselves in striving to make things better for other's lives. Whether it was in service to his country or serving citizens in his medical practice or serving citizens as a County Commissioner and later as a State Senator, Jim dedicated himself to making things better for all citizens. Like many others, we will miss Jim very much but we will always cherish all the great memories.
You and your family are in our thoughts and our prayers.

Yours aye,

Mary Frances, Jimmy and Girls, my heart hurts for you and your family during this sad time. I do not have to remind you of the legacy that lives on through the life of "one good man" because you lived it and reaped the benefits from it, as did many of us in various ways. I am thankful for the blessing he was in my family through Michael's friendship with Jimmy. He will have many stars in his crown to lay at the feet of Jesus. Bronchitis prevents me from being with you, but you are bathed in my prayers.

Dr. Forrester was my family physician from early childhood until I became pregnant with my first child in 1979. He was always very caring and loving. I have very pleasant memories of office visits as I got older. Dr. Forrester helped me with the planning of our first child and was always very "fatherly" to me. He will certainly be missed. He was certainly a remarkable man. Goodbye Dr. Forrester! Debbie "Watts" Thompson......Dallas NC

Dear Mrs. Forrester and Family: My prayers go with you today and tomorrow. I am sure it is hard to give up some one of Jim's caliber. His being of Scottish decent was a sweet surprise to me. He was one of those true old soldiers that fought for Our God and Our Country with all his being. You were so lucky to have such a man with you daily. When things calm down, please send me a contact name for furthering Jim's fight for the family. The Churches of Christ want to be involved but don't know who to meet with to do our part. Jim and I were fraternity (Delta Sigma Phi) brothers at Wake Forest during our undergraduate days. I had not seen him in many years and while I was making some trips in Stanley visiting one of my clients. I stopped in his medical office a couple times and was fortunate to find him there one day. We welcomed me like one would expect of a fraternity brother. We were able to spend some time together reminiscing our days at Wake Forest and asking about brothers we had not seen in many years.

Stanley as well as the State of NC has lost a dedicated person. I'm sure the family is very proud of his accomplishments during his life. I know he has been welcomed in heaven.

My best to his family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of State Senator Jim Forrester. I knew Jim Forrester as a crusader for right versus wrong. He stood his ground on issues that he believed. Senator Jim Forrester was a distinguished and honorable man who was a retired General in the US Air Force, State Senator, County Commissioner, Physician, Husband and Father.

While Senator Jim Forrester's death is a cause of sadness, his legacy will live on in the State Senate and in the laws he worked so hard to pass. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary Frances and the entire Forrester family.

To the entire Forrester Family, our families prayers and thoughts are with you and with Jim. Jim found a way to serve man through God and many have benefited for decades from his endless efforts. He actually literally saved my life when I had Meningitis. He showed tremendous strength in character when he made the decision to join the Republican Party in a Democratic County. He always followed what was right, not what was politically correct at the time. The length & breadth of the scope of lives Jim impacted in his all to short time here on earth is immeasurable.
