JAMES SEAGO Obituary

JAMES MALACHI SEAGO, JR. age 76, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 14, 2014. He was born on October, 27, 1937, in Fairmont, N.C., to the late James Malachi Seago, Sr. and Edith Faye Rouse. He graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh in 1956, and from University of North Carolina State in 1961 with a degree in textile chemistry. He started his career at Burlington Industries. He then started his own business in international exporting until an early retirement brought about by heart disease. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and sailing. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed flying his private plane until an accident that nearly ended his life. James was a member of Saint Andrews on the Sound Episcopal Church. He enjoyed helping people who were less fortunate and volunteered at various establishments, including the soup kitchen of the Good Shepherd, the Airlie Gardens, the White Oak Senior Living and he tutored children at Topsail Middle School. The great joys of his life were his daughter, Alexandra her husband Alan and his grandson, Logan Tamadon. He was a loving brother to Jennifer Burton (Bill), Penny Jacobs (Bruce), Glenn Seago (Norma), Greg Seago (Dawn) and David Wright (Patti). As per his wishes, his remains were cremated to be with his daughter's family. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Saint Andrews on the Sound Episcopal Church 101 Airlie Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403, where relatives and friends can gather in his memory. In lieu of flowers please make your contribution in his name to Saint Andrews on the Sound Episcopal Church. Alex

It is always hard to lose a Dad.

As I looked at the photos of Jim with your son I realized that the nurturing that others have seen in Jim toward you extended to his grandson. And the blessing is that Logan is old enough to carry his relationship with Jim into adulthood and his life.

Alex,
I remember your Dad from many years ago--he impressed me as such a kind and gentle soul. I remember watching him walk with you at Uncle Tom's lake cabin when you were just a little girl: while so many relatives were talking, laughing, catching up, he took you by the hand and walked toward the lake, pointing out different wildlife, stopping to answer your questions, staying very engaged with you. I thought then that you were a lucky girl to have such a great dad. I know he was very proud of you and that you will hold him in your heart always.
Fondly,
Libby Broadwell
