Jennie Rhodes Obituary
Jennie Harris Rhodes, age 100, of Burgaw passed gently from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at her home.
She was born November 6, 1909 in Roxboro, one of thirteen children of John William and Lucy Mae Bowes Harris. Also remembered are her husband, Olen K. Rhodes, Sr.; son, Olen K. Rhodes, Jr. and her brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her daughters, Jennie Elizabeth Beaver and Lillian Ann Summerlin both of Burgaw; grandchildren, Bryan Summerlin and Wayne Summerlin; five great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and sister, Irene Robinson of Roxboro.
Jennie loved her family, friends and above all her Lord. Loving the outdoors, she grew her own vegetables and flowers until several years ago. She was blessed to keep her keen sense of humor and sharp mind until the very end. Jennie spent her 100 years on this earth with kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness for others. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, steadfast faith in God and her sweet, sweet reassuring smile will forever be remembered.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Elder Virgil Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Onslow Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Monday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Jenny was our aunt and a sweet, sweet lady, who lived a hard life and enjoyed every minute of it. She stayed sharp to the very end--Love you sweet Jenny!

Jennie was my aunt on my Fathers side Dennis Harris. She was a great person and loved her family and enjoyed the outside life. I know she will be missed by a lot of people. Rest in peace Aunt Jennie

Jennie was my Aunt. She was a loving and caring AND sweet little lady. I will mis seeing her after coming home from the beach. I <3 U AUNT JENNIE!!!!! I will name my daughter Jennie.
