John Strawcutter Obituary

John W. Strawcutter

Wilmington - The family of John W. Strawcutter sadly reports that John passed away peacefully on April 16. He had been treated for prostate cancer and his health had declined so that his last days were spent at Trinity Grove nursing home in near his residence in Wilmington, North Carolina. John was a graduate of Wake Forest University in Business Administration. For most of the last two decades John had worked all around the state for Mariner Health of Wilmington as a licensed nursing home administrator, and in fact had participated in the ground breaking ceremony for Trinity Grove a few years before. John leaves behind his daughter, Kim, who grew up in Lumberton, and grandchildren, Cory and Ashley. John will be greatly missed by those who loved him including his niece, Suzanne, and nephews, Andy and Grant, for whom he often seemed as much a big brother as an uncle. Those who wish to celebrate John's life may do so with a donation to Wesley Pines in Lumberton.

John Strawcutter was a very good friend of my father's. In fact they were roommates for short time when my parents were separated and going through a divorce and John was there for him and my father was there for him when he went through his. My father's name is Thomas Alden and regretfully he has passed as well. My father passed away in January of 2016 but I can say that for quite some time he's been a very good friend and they always talked throughout the years and would catch up on how they're doing in their lives. Of all my father's friends, I remember him speaking of John strawcutter the most. He was his best friend at least for a portion of his life I can attest to. I'm thankful that they were there for each other in their lives as they were and may they be reunited again now in heaven. I am so sorry for your loss and all my sympathies deepest sympathies, to the family. I do remember meeting Kimberly when I was young. Of all that I know I just want to speak on behalf of my father who is passed on, that he was dearly beloved and very missed by my father and from what I know John was a terrific man and father and husband and my deepest condolences to the family. My father speaks through me now, and I know that this would have brought my father to tears. But no matter what he will always be remembered in my mind. I just had to speak on that and may they both rest in peace. I appreciate who he was for my father as a friend, a best friend throughout a difficult portion of their life as well as their entire adult life no matter where they moved they always spoke on the phone for hours. I have nothing but good memories that are fond of the good man that he was.. Many blessings, condolences, and prayers to the family. He will be missed and remembered.

A million years ago, he took a chance on a young girl right out of college and gave me my first "real job." Through our time working together, he offered much support and guidance as I learned to navigate the real world. Fond memories
