Joseph Faulk Obituary

Joseph Garland Faulk, son of Betty Perry Faulk and the late Homer G. Faulk, died January 18, 2007, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Joseph was born and raised in Sanford, N.C. He was well known for his football prowess at Sanford Central High School. He played in the 1969 East West All Star Game and the Shrine Bowl. He attended Elon College where he was on a full football scholarship and received degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He received his degree in Physical Therapy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received numerous awards including "Who's Who in America" and national and state honors as a scholar athlete. He was co-owner of J.R. Rehab Assoc. and part owner of Occupational and Rehab Health Partners. He received a number of awards for his business achievements and was past president of Physical Therapy Alumni Assoc. at UNC-CH.

Joe was an avid fisherman. His heart was warmed by spending time with his family laughing and telling stories. He is survived by his wife, Debra Rogers Faulk; daughters, Hillary F. Vaughan and Stacey E. Faulk; and son, Joseph Gray Faulk all of Wilmington. He also survived by his brother, Bobby Gray Faulk and his wife Janet Faulk of Mooresville, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in his memory be made to "Step up for Soldiers" (stepupfor

soldiers.org). Memorials can be mailed to Step up for Soldiers PO Box 2003, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 or you may donate to any First Citizens Bank in North Carolina. Joe requested no memorial service.
