JOSEPH PETER "CAPT'N Pete" SINGLETARY, JR. Joseph Peter "Capt'n Pete" Singletary Jr., 83 of Holden Beach, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday January 5, 2018. Mr. Singletary was born in Brunswick County on August 7, 1934 and was the son of the late Joseph Peter Singletary Sr. and Zettie Galloway Singletary. He was also preceded in death by a son in-law Jesse Hayes Jr. Mr. Singletary was a retired commercial fisherman and owned and operated Capt'n Pete's Seafood of Holden Beach. He enjoyed camping and traveling. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Augusta Kirby Singletary; two daughters, Opal Hayes of Supply, Rita Elliott and husband Travis of Supply; four grandchildren, Kerrie Hayes, Melina Elliott, Dana Elliott, Kaitlyn Elliott; a sister, Marilyn Swain and husband Ennis of Varnamtown. A celebration service will be held Sunday January 7th, 2018 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Gospel Center Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Foyd Bennett officiating. I am so sorry for the loss of Pete. He was so special. My heart is sad, but at same time such great memories of working with you all as to business. A great friendship was made and I will always remember those smiles and kind words. Augusta the two of you were such a bright light. You glowed as a couple showing your love for family.
