Kate Walsh Obituary

KATE WALSH Bon Vivant Extraordinaire 1952-2016: Feminist, World Traveler, TV Producer/Director, Writer, Teacher, Chef, Wine Snob, Loyal Friend, Irish, Beautiful, Loving, Wife. Kate loved best sitting with friends, drinking wine, showing off her style, talking smart and anything French. She was daring, always pushing the envelope and thinking out of the box. Kate was a truth-teller, a strong voice of the feminist movement in the early '70s, a champion of women's rights, and the underdog. She loved her diverse groups of friends, her in-laws, nieces and nephews, camping, languages, writing, learning and teaching (in and out of the classroom), and our cats. She was the leading light of our family. She leaves behind her utterly broken hearted love of 35 years, Terry Meyer; and will forever love her soul sister Lillian, closest friends, who are her family, Newhall Street, ATIAT, the Ettes, and the loads of the Copenhagen group. Her spirit now joins her mother, June Walsh, in the light shining on us all. "She crossed borders recklessly, refusing to recognize limits, saying bonjour and buon giorno as though she owned both France and Italy and the day itself." In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Operation Topcat, PO Box 922, Sneads Ferry, NC 28460.

Kate,
Sweet and daring, strong and flamboyant, creative and sensitive. I will miss you my friend, but I look forward to our last party together.
