Laurie Liggett Obituary
Evansville, Ind.
Laurie Ann Liggett, 51, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital with her family surrounding her.
Laurie was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 18, 1962 to James Edward and Loretta Ann (Lovelace) Liggett. She attended Ivy Tech Community College and the University of Southern Indiana. Laurie was the owner and operator of Sign Post Inc. in Fort Branch, IN, with her partners, Alan "Fred" Purcell and Aaron Baumholser. She volunteered her time as a docent at Mesker Park Zoo and Wessleman's Nature Preserve Center, where she trained birds and participated in many other activities. Laurie had many talents, she was a talented artist, a creative cook, and a gifted musician, who loved playing the guitar. She taught her brother, Sam to play the guitar. She also enjoyed going camping, traveling with her family and especially sharing her love for the Lord Jesus with others. Laurie always had a helping hand for others, she was a loving, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Laurie is survived by, her mother, Loretta Ann (Lovelace) Liggett of Evansville, IN; sister, Vicki Liggett of Evansville, IN; brothers, John Liggett of Evansville, IN, Joe Liggett (Michele), of Lakeland, FL and Sam Liggett of Evansville, IN; grandmother, Dorothy Lovelace; nieces, Jennifer Fries (Ben) and Samantha Beckham (Kenny); many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Laurie was preceded in death by her father, James Edward Liggett and her maternal grandfather, Harry Lovelace and her paternal grandparents, Ethel and Samuel Liggett.
A celebration of Laurie's life will be held from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711.
Memorial contributions may be made to Laurie's family.

Laurie was one of the nicest people I ever met and wow did she love animals, especially birds. I've always enjoyed seeing her at the zoo and it won't be the same without her. I only found out today and am sorry I wasn't able to pay my last respects. My heart goes out to her family, especially Sam whom I've known for almost 25 years.

My deepest sympathies - I know though that Laurie is now at peace and is loving on all the beautiful animals in Heaven.
She was one of the coolest people I have ever known. I can still see her chuckling at me during the bird shows.... :)

Laurie and I met many years ago in MPZs docent program. Of the many things I recall about Laurie is the joy and love that eminated from her - and her great sense of humor. On our trip to the Amazon, she put her fear of heights aside and walked across many rope bridges stretched between the tree canopies...she was determine! Heaven has gained another angel who will be missed by many.
