To the Kermon family I just heard of your mothers passing. My deepest sympathies goes out to you! I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Kermon in Nov. I was a student at Cape Fear Community College taking a CNA course we were doing our clincal work at Liberty Commons. My girlfriend and I took care of Mrs. Kermon and Mrs. Weaver. They both are wonderful ladies. Ms. Kermon was always so kind and understanding and a big help with her nursing experience. We loved taking care of her and Im so sad to hear of her passing.

God saw you were
getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you
And whispered,"Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
to us,He only takes the best.

It was a great joy to have Mrs. Kermon to care for, she was a very sweet lady, My prayers are with the family.

I visited Mary for several years while she was at Liberty Commons. She was such a sweet lady and I enjoyed our visits. She always enjoyed the chocolate candy bars I brought to her to enjoy and she often shared them with her roommates. My condolences go out to each of her family members.

Sincerest condolences from the Colwells. On behalf of Veenie, Steve, and Bryan, thank you for being loyal and true friends and neighbors for many decades. I, too, (Mr. Barefoot) had the Pine Street paper route (as did Steve) and always did my best to "porch" the paper. From Ms. Kermon picking figs off our large fig tree in the backyard to the many visits across Pine Street by my Mom and Dad to visit, their friendship withstood the test of time. Again, sincerest condolences from the Colwells. David Colwell, Daniel Island, South Carolina

Bob and Mary Ann please accept my deepest sympathies. Both your Mom and Dad were two of the finest people i've had the pleasure of knowing.

The Kermons were among the sweetest of families on Pine Street back in the fifties. I know, because our family also lived a few doors up from them at 4925 and I played with their son, Bobby. Since I delivered papers to their house circa 1956, I also knew both Mr. and Mrs. Kermon, seeing one or the other whenever I collected for the paper. She was always very pleasant to me and I particularly enjoyed stopping at their home. Unfortunately, I was not the best of paperboys as I frequently - if not always - missed their porch when I threw the paper from my bicycle. Mr. Kermon on occasion admonished me - ok, he yelled and rightfully so - as he stood out on his porch very early in the morning catching me in the act of my poor service! He too, was quite the nice guy, being very patient with me. And so it goes; sadly, the old Pine Street neighborhood changes yet again with the passing of another of my great 'fifties' neighbors. I miss them and all of the others who've left that incredible classic little neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Bobby Barefoot
