I am so sorry and shocked to hear of Bruce's passing. We went to elementary school together in High Point and my parents knew his mom well. He looked me up when he moved to Wilmington in the mid 70's. We last saw each other at church about 10 years ago. He was such a nice easy going person. I can see he had many friends and touched many lifes. He truly made his mark on this earth in a good way and will always be remembered as a good person. May he be happy for ever more in heaven with family and friends that went on before him. To his family and loved ones, my prayers go out to each of you. You have such wonderful memories to hold on to, until you meet again.

God blessed our family with my cousin Bruce. He touched many lives. Even though we didn't speak or keep in as close contact as I would have liked he knew we loved him and he us. I hope that the rest of the family will try to keep in better touch. I know it's hard and how easily we all slip back into our daily lives but please know that I love you all . I will miss cuz Bruce dearly...

Bruce was my cousin and my friend and the closest thing to a brother -- other than my brother-in-law Johnny. Bruce was always there for me and supported me in everything I did -- especially the writing of my two books. We e-mailed each other and visited when we could -- unfortunately, not often -- but I knew he was only an e-mail or a phone call away, and I knew he loved me as I loved him. My memories of him will be cherished always, and I will miss his laughter and his love. He is with God and for that, I am happy. Good bye, dear Cuz. I love you and always will.

Bruce joined College Acres Baptist church when I served there as pastor. He solicited me to serve Wrightsville Beach PD as Police Chaplain & I'm grateful to have had the opportunity. He was a dear friend and I loved him as a brother. In recent years we only talked occasionally & saw eah other annually, but we always picked up right where we left off. I thank God for the opportunity we had to visit over coffee this past summer. I know Jesus was his Savior and that he's now safe with Him. I'll miss him dearly, but I look forward to our reunion in heaven. Jason H. Barber (GA)

I met Bruce in the late 1970's when he was working at WBPD. I lost track of him for a few years but when I began working EMS I saw him quite a bit then. He never changed, no matter how life was treating him at the time. He always had a warm smile, kind words, and sometimes even a pretty good joke. Over the years, I noticed that he sometimes would go out of his way to help people he barely knew. The world needs more people like Bruce, and I am heartbroken that he is no longer with us. Such a wonderful man. So young still, with so much to offer. My deepest sympathy to his friends and family.

I met Bruce in 1976 in Breathalyzer School. He was a young Wrightville Police Officer and I was a young State Trooper. We became close friends and remained close friends. I will dearly miss my brother! Sleep well!

I pray that God will ease the pain in your hearts and fill it with warm memories. I have fond memories of Bruce and Ginger, how much he loved his Nascar collection, watching him shoot pool with his favorite pool buddies. Deep conversations and lots of good laughs. He will be missed by so many people who's lives he touched.

We were Bruce's next door neighbors at Wrightsville Beach, NC during the 1980s (Parmele Boulevard). A quiet, self-effacing, gentle yet friendly person that was always there with a kind word and a big smile. We kept up with him for many years through his work on the WB force and elsewhere. What an untimely and senseless death. We thought the world of him and wish his family the best during these difficult times. The Puentes
