Nellie Connor Obituary

NELLIE STANLEY CONNOR

Nellie Stanley Connor, 82, of Wilmington passed away at Mariner Health on November 1, 2009. Born in Brunswick County on November 27, 1926, her parents were Arthur David and Annie Wescott Stanley.

Nell is survived by her daughter, Julie Covey; two sisters, Alma Hewett and Elizabeth Hughes; grandchildren, Rick Longnecker and Jonathan Travis Longnecker. She was preceded in death by husbands, Bob Harris and Lewis Connor and a grandson, Corey Vann.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Coble Ward-Smith, Oleander Dr., officiated by Pastor Paul Waters. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Randy Hewett, Dale Hewett, Robert Hewett, Michael Hewett, David Peterson and Kevin Hughes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

My Mother, Vivian Phelps, has fond memories of Nellie when they would go home with each other after school and spend the night. My Aunt Lillian Batson also shares those memories, and recalls a childhood friendship. Our sincere sympathy to all of Ms. Connor's family.
