PAUL REEVES Obituary

PAUL WAYNE REEVES

Paul W. Reeves of Ash died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Brunswick Novant Medical Center. Born in Southport on November 24, 1947, he was a son of the late Paul Morgan Reeves and Evyleene Bellamy Reeves and grandson of the late Raymond and Rosie Bellamy. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Vaughan Reeves and Joe S. Reeves.

Mr. Reeves was a former town councilman and mayor pro-tem for the Town of Shallotte. He served as director of the first Information and Referral Center for Brunswick County. He spent time organizing and coaching a ladies softball league. He initiated a parks and recreation committee in Shallotte and also worked on a family recreation park.

Even though he was confined to a wheelchair for forty years, he didn't let that keep him from enjoying helping others in any way he could. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours sitting in his van watching and photographing deer and any other of God's creations he might observe.

Mr. Reeves is survived by Marilyn S. Reeves, his loving wife and faithful caregiver for 43 years; daughter, Amanda R. Gore and her husband, Dean; grandsons, Elijah and David; granddaughter, Isabella; he anticipated the arrival of a second granddaughter in March; sisters, Barbara R Annas and husband, Doug, of Burlington and Betty R. Ward and husband, John, of Shallotte; brother, David E. Reeves and wife, Peggy, of Ocean Isle Beach; and Paul was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. He was a wonderful example of what it means to face adversity with love and grace.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte by The Rev. Sherwood Lancaster of Highest Praise Worship Center and Betty Ward.

Burial will be in Sabbath Home Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, October 29, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte.

Private on-line condolences may be sent to www.brunswickfuneralservice.com.

Marilyn, I just went on line to look at Bunny Babson's obituary and the name caught my eye. I couldn't believe it. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I know that meant so much to me when Thorborne died. It won't be long before more of their classmates are together in heaven than here on earth - They'll have their reunion their with our Savior. God be with you. Love, Carol

I AM SO VERY SORRY ABOUT YOUR LOSS. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL.

Marilyn, I can't help but SMILE thinking about the last time I spoke with the two of you on the phone, I don't know who laughed the most, me, you, or Mr. Paul Wayne, between the cell phones and the house phone, we were conducting some serious business that morning. Thinking of you ~ Greta
